Rabbi & Rebbetzin

family-2.jpgRabbi and Rebbetzin Yaakov and Sara Glasman joined the NEJC community in 2005.

Rabbi Glasman was born and raised here in Melbourne where he graduated from Yeshivah College. Since then he has advanced his Jewish knowledge in various Rabbinical Colleges both locally and overseas, including Montreal, Florida, New Jersey and New York. After receiving his Rabbinic ordination (smicha), he returned to Australian shores. Whilst in Melbourne he completed a course in relationship mediation and conflict management at Monash University. Rabbi Glasman then entered the Victorian Rabbinate as the Rabbi of the North Eastern Jewish Centre.

Rabbi Glasman demonstrates a keen interest in Jewish education. He is an educator of VCE Jewish studies at the Beth Rivkah Ladies College, where he teaches Bible Studies, Jewish Philosophy, Jewish Law and Mysticism, as well as presenting courses for adults from a broad cross section of Melbourne’s Jewish community. In the wider Jewish community, Rabbi Glasman is an executive member of the Rabbinical Council of Victoria.

Rebbetzin Sara Glasman was born in Israel where she lived throughout her early childhood, after which she moved with her family to the United States. Whilst in the States, Rebbetzin Glasman was instrumental as the Jewish Youth Program Director for the Chabad centre of Philadelphia. Utilizing her organizational skills and her strong ability to relate to children, Rebbetzin Glasman tailored programs and activities for Jewish children across Philadelphia’s Jewish community regardless of their level of knowledge.

Rebbetzin Glasman is also a qualified and dedicated Jewish studies teacher. Completing her teaching course in the Jewish Ladies College of Canada, she received her Diploma of Jewish Education which she has since utilized both locally and abroad. Since arriving in Australia, Rebbetzin Glasman has been a dedicated teacher for the United Jewish Education Board (UJEB) as well as Yeshivah and Beth Rivka Colleges and is a key program and events co-ordinator at the NEJC.

Rabbi and Rebbetzin Glasman have built meaningful relationships with families and individuals of the community and have rapidly become an integral part of the North Eastern Jewish Centre. They are highly committed to Jewish outreach and are dedicated to the continual growth of the community. Their warm and caring approach has attracted many families to join them around their Shabbat table. Yaakov and Sara have been blessed with three children – Dovi, Moshe and Chaya.
